Energy Efficiency & Weatherization Services
RCAA provides high quality energy efficiency and weatherization services for income qualified low to moderate income households. The services are available for qualified renters and homeowners.
Community outreach is an integral part of RCAA's energy services.
RCAA crews employ the latest technology to identify the most energy saving methods for reducing energy waste, pollution and related costs for the client. The Blower Door, Monoxor II CAS testing device and Department of Energy's (DOE) Energy Efficiency Assessment Audit are powerful tools employed to meet these goals.
The Blower Door provides for the immediate identification of all catastrophic air infiltration sources in houses and heating ducts. Once identified, crews efficiently complete the necessary repairs, improve the quality of the housing and reduce energy costs. The Monoxor II is used to test for the presence of carbon monoxide in all combustion appliances. Finally, the DOE Energy Audit is used to pinpoint the most cost-effective methods for reducing energy waste in a home. It assesses the cost of the proposed measure and compares it with the potential savings to be realized. This method ensures that only the most cost-effective measures are installed. It also helps to improve the overall efficiency of the program.
The Energy Efficiency and Weatherization measures include:
- Attic, floor, duct & water heater insulation
- Setback thermostats & Electric water heater timers
- Heating & air conditioning repairs or tune-ups
- Installation of carbon monoxide detectors
- Low flow showerheads & faucet aerators
- Installation of storm & thermal windows
- Lighting retrofits
