THP Plus is a transitional housing program for 18 to 24 year olds who have been emancipated from the foster care system or probation system.
The goal of THP Plus is to aid and support former foster youth or probation youth on their road to self-sufficiency.
THP Plus is a goal-based program. Once a youth is enrolled in the program, he/she will work on program goals by engaging in productivity, such as employment, academic/vocational school, budgeting and life skills education and parenting education.
WHAT DOES THP PLUS INCLUDE?
Participants enrolled in the program will be housed in one of two models:
Host Home - Participants may continue to live with their foster family or another caring adult with whom they have a permanent connection. The ultimate goal for those living in a host home is for transition into permanent independent housing by program exit.
Independent Housing - Those participants who are ready for their own rental may choose to live independently or with a housemate. Participants may receive assistance with locating and moving into their permanent housing.
Participants enrolled in the program will receive the following continuum of services:
- Case Management Services
- 24-hour Crisis Intervention
- Educational Advocacy and Support
- Job Readiness Training and Support
- Rental Subsidies
- Utility Assistance
- Grocery Allowance
- Aftercare Services
The maximum length of enrollment in THP Plus is 24-months. The program is voluntary and intended for young adults who have the capacity to safely reside in unsupervised settings.
