Each year RCAA continues to advance its mission, which is to "provide leadership and advocacy; to develop community-based coordinated services and activities designed to enable low-income/disadvantaged persons to gain the necessary skills, education and motivation to become self-sufficient."
Ultimately, RCAA's goal is to eradicate poverty, homelessness and hunger in our communities and we have been striving towards that goal here in Humboldt County for over 30 years.
1980
RCAA opened its' doors began serving the community.
1981
RCAA offered its' first energy services for low-income residents of Humboldt County.
1984
The Youth Service Bureau began serving the homeless youth in Humboldt County.
1985
RCAA opened the Bridge House, a transitional home offering structure and stability to families recovering from hardship.
1989
RCAA weatherized its' 10,000th home in Humboldt County.
1991
RCAA purchased its' first 8 unit building to provide affordable housing in Eureka.
1992
We purchased an additional 20 unit building to provide affordable housing in Eureka.
1995
RCAA opened Safe Haven, Humboldt County's first transitional home for those choosing to leave domestic abuse.
2001
RCAA implemented the TOOTH program in our public schools to provide education about dental hygiene for children.
2005
RCAA opened the Multiple Assistance Center (MAC). Humboldt County’s largest transitional living program began serving the community after 10 years of community planning efforts.
2007
RCAA began construction of the Hammond Trail and on the pedestrian bridge over Widow White Creek.
2007
RCAA began providing clinical services, for children and youth. An outpatient mental health service program began serving those in transitional shelters.
2008
RCAA took over stewardship of the Henderson Community Garden and added 1/3 acre of additional garden space.
2010
RCAA began the Housing and Financial Counseling program to help people with their finances and early mortgage default.
These are just a few of RCAA's contributions to the County of Humboldt. Federal and state funding continues to shrink, but our expenses continue to increase. Your donations are used to supplement the many programs RCAA offers.
Each of RCAA's 7 Divisions has multiple programs and projects, providing much-needed services to the community. Help us to continue serving Humboldt County and reach our goal to help families achieve the dream of self-sufficiency by donating today. We accept donations in any amount, large or small.
